THERAPIST-LIMITED PERMIT

(He/Him) Daniel Belnavis (MA, MT-BC, CAT-LP) is a board-certified music therapist and holds a limited permit in creative arts therapy. Daniel is committed to creating a nurturing, therapeutic environment characterized by warmth, acceptance, and mutual respect. He strives to meet his clients where they are and to honor their unique, lived experiences.

Daniel works with clients of all ages and has specific experience with individuals and families navigating a broad spectrum of challenges, including depression, anxiety, grief, identity development, sexual trauma, neurological disorders, terminal illness, and issues related to discrimination and oppression. He views music and the creative arts as powerful bridges to the inner self, unlocking pathways to expression, self-discovery, and healing. In addition to traditional verbal psychotherapy, sessions may include creative components such as therapeutic songwriting, song discussion, vocal improvisation, and receptive listening.

All sessions are tailored to the client’s individual needs and interests and no prior experience with music or other creative arts modalities is necessary.

As a Black, gay therapist, Daniel is deeply passionate about social justice and LGBTQIA+ affirming care, striving to provide empathetic support to individuals marginalized by sociocultural and systemic inequalities. He holds a Master of Arts in Music Therapy from New York University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from the University of Michigan.
